NO ME PONGAS LOS CUERNOS—literally, don’t put the horns on me—is an expression that means absolutely nothing when taken out of context and culture. Comprehension is not just a matter of reflecting, of using propositions, but a way of experiencing and understanding a comprehensible reality. Every cultural tradition, our ties to a linguistic community, our aesthetic sensibilities and our reaction to perceptive stimuli are totally conditioned by our western context of meaning.

ANSELMECALDERÉ is a team of young female curators formed by Marta Peleteiro (Spain) and Sarah Alcalay (France), who live and work between Lyon, Madrid, Gothenburg and Amsterdam. These two daughters of the 80s come from different horizons but have complementary backgrounds thanks to the diversity and richness they have acquired over the course of their respective careers, experiences and travels. Both have started out from a past of jumbled artistic precedents and moved ever closer to curatorial practice, inspired by a shared sojourn in Scandinavia. After spending time in the north, the two women decided to continue investigating and striving to understand the Scandinavian context; to create a new kind of proposal where young artists, designers, architects, critics, theorists, lecturers, pillars of numerous activities and the audience (spectators) can enter into a space of constant exchange between multiple horizons; to apply that existing tension to the quest for new uses and practices that reject and redefine our self-imposed boundaries in contemporary art, because tomorrow will be even more contemporary and innovative than today.
